Caldwell is a city of over 63K and is located in the western part of the Treasure Valley. It's more rural in nature and is the county seat. It's well know for its ribbon ice skating rink and stunning Christmas Lights display every December.
There are two colleges located in Caldwell, the College of Idaho and the Western College of Idaho. The College of Idaho was founded in 1891 and Western College of Idaho in 2007.
About the time of the Civil War, gold was discovered in the area and settlers started to move in; instead of seeking gold, most started side businesses such as freight companies and ferry lines. The city was originally the site of the Oregon Short Line RR which ran from Wyoming to Oregon.
More than a few interesting residents have called Caldwell home. From the 1990 Playmate of the year, Renee Tenison, to Paul Revere (Paul Revere & the Raiders). Others included Cody Pickett of NFL fame, Jim Rohn, world reknown speaker and coach, and the founder of Albertson's Grocery Stores, Joseph Albertson.
Caldwell has a nice selection of places to stay from B & B's to hotels to guest ranches and an RV Resort. There are also private AirBNB's and cottages to rent.
This area is also becoming well known for its wineries. You'll find the Sunnyslope Wine Trail, the Ste. Chapelle Winery )(Est 1976) and other wineries nearby. About half of the area wineries are on the Sunnyslope wine Trail.
